Marianne Quinn

Thanks for the last edition of the Newsletter. I have been regretful of the move to digital as I personally hate bringing my computer home at night (and only do so at the weekends). When the newsletter was in print, I would read it in full within 2-days of it arriving.

I did, however, read this last edition, and I really enjoyed Sean’s contribution (linked here). We need more members who can risk being both personally honest, provocative, and who write with wisdom and openness – and who refer to links I would not otherwise have known about (I am two thirds the way through the Twilight video at this point!). As one who believes we can most readily challenge our deeply held prejudices when also able to be relaxed and bemused/amused, I really liked this way of getting us to think more broadly about the current trend towards a narrowing of options; something that as a card carrying feminist for 50 years (and a tomboy by early identification), I really chime with.

Keep up the good work!!

P.S: I found Conference challenging and thought provoking. I was keenly aware of the work that had gone into its creation and the level of anxiety the Conference organising group were carrying, which I certainly hope eased as the days went on. I was glad to be there.

I am also very grateful to Brigitta Puls for signalling a willingness to convene a group to create the next conference in another 2-years, so we can continue to meet and reflect around these important matters of how we come into being and how our selves (in all our complexities) are shaped and formed by our experiences as we travel through life. I fully intend to be there.

Kia kaha to us all: with open hearts and open minds, may we keep moving forward in our understandings of these aspects of self and society, and all that entails.

(And thanks to you too, for helping shape these conversations in this way!)

Regards,
Marianne Quinn
